and spherical bearings requires good engineering and know-how.
The RODOBAL manufacturing program hinges on the following key
factors: small size for space saving, high load capacity, wear
resistance, long life, resistance to environmental conditions
and, last but not least, RODOBAL products are economical. The
design is based on the DIN 648K dimensional standards to ensure
regular sizes, bores and threads.
RODOBAL components can replace the majority of other metric units.
The RODOBAL program includes rod ends with male or female shaft,
either right-hand or left-hand, and spherical bearings without
shaft.

A number of manufacturing
techniques and materials are combined during the production phase
to cater for different customer requirements. The range includes:
- BASIC range for general use
- HEAVY DUTY range for loads
- EXTRA HEAVY DUTY range for extreme loads
- STAINLESS range in case of corrosion
- STANDARD range for non-critical applications
The ranges include maintenance-free versions and versions reinforced
with PTFE anti-friction liner; the liner is placed in the spherical
coupling between the inner ring and the external race.

The body of the RODOBAL rod end units followed by the letters
“..MTE” are forged in heat-treated alloy steel to
withstand extreme shocks and vibrations. The inner spherical ring
is made of 100Cr6 carbon steel that is hardened, ground and hard-chrome
plated. The anti friction liner is placed between the inner ring
and the steel race: it is made of a bronze mesh impregnated with
PTFE. The liner acts as a permanent lubricant and no greasing
is required during the rod end life span.
All RM … MTE RODOBAL units are corrosion resistant: in this
range the body of the rod end is bright nickel-plated, the race
is made of stainless steel and the inner ring is hard-chrome plated.

Since no grease is required the unit is not equipped with a lubrication
hole or a grease nipple on the body that would decrease the load
capacity. The fit of the gliding spherical coupling is preloaded
with practically no clearance. Preloading prevents the fit becoming
loose with use.
Thanks to the right-hand or left-hand fine thread pitch of the
rod end shafts, the length setting of the linkage bars can be
set accurately.
