Definition

AURORA® rod ends and spherical bearings are precision mechanical joints designed to transmit rotary and oscillating motion while accommodating angular misalignment between connected components.

Available in both standard and custom configurations, they are developed to provide reliable articulation, high load-carrying capacity, and consistent performance across a wide variety of industrial and aerospace applications.

Depending on the operating requirements, the product range includes traditional steel-to-steel bearing designs as well as maintenance-free solutions equipped with self-lubricating liners, allowing engineers to select the most appropriate configuration for each application.

Technical description

AURORA® rod ends and spherical bearings are manufactured using high-quality alloy steels and precision-machined spherical bearing components to ensure accurate articulation, high mechanical strength, and extended service life.

The product range includes both conventional lubricated steel-to-steel bearings and maintenance-free versions identified by the suffix “T”. These incorporate a reinforced PTFE liner chemically bonded to the outer race, creating a permanent self-lubricating sliding surface that eliminates the need for periodic lubrication while maintaining minimal internal clearance throughout the component’s service life.

The proprietary PTFE liner provides excellent wear resistance and is engineered to withstand contact pressures comparable to those of conventional steel-to-steel bearing arrangements.

For applications requiring periodic lubrication, steel-to-steel versions can be supplied with integrated grease fittings installed in the threaded body.

The AURORA® range also includes special executions with preloaded, close-clearance, or increased-clearance spherical fits to meet specific operating conditions. Right-hand and left-hand jam nuts are available for imperial UNF threaded shanks, providing accurate adjustment and secure installation.

Designed to withstand vibration, shock loads, frequent reversing motion, and high rotational speeds, AURORA® components are well suited to demanding industrial and aerospace environments.

Rod ends and spherical bearings are manufactured to meet the following specifications: small size for space saving, high load capacity, wear resistance, long life, resistance to environmental conditions; last but not least, AURORA products are economical.

The AURORA program includes a number of manufacturing techniques and materials to ensure quality and versatility
