AURORA® Spherical Bearings for the Aircraft aerospace Industry

28/04/2026

In the aeropace industry, AURORA® spherical bearings and rod ends are used in applications where precision, reliability and mechanical strength are essential requirements. Since the 1980s, AURORA®’s manufacturing quality has also been recognized within the aerospace industry, leading the company to produce components according to the specific requirements of major manufacturers.

Today, AURORA® offers a complete range of spherical plain bearings, rod ends and plain bearings used in ultralight aircraft, general aviation, commercial aviation, military aircraft and space equipment.

Precision and strength for aeronautical applications

AURORA® spherical interfaces are designed to ensure robustness, accuracy and consistent performance even under loads, vibration and shock. These features are particularly important in the aircraft sector, where components must maintain stable performance and controlled clearance over time.

The sliding operating principle allows the bearing to accommodate movement and misalignment, contributing to the overall stability of the system in which it is installed.

Lubricated and maintenance-free solutions

AURORA® product lines are available with steel-on-steel, relubricatable regreasable configurations, as well as maintenance-free versions. The latter, identified by the suffix “T” in their part number, feature a PTFE-based composite reinforced liner between the spherical inner ring and the steel race.

The anti-friction liner provides permanent lubrication, reduces wear and eliminates the need for initial or ongoing lubrication. The liner is chemically bonded to the steel race, and its composition is a proprietary AURORA® technology.

Standard and custom-engineered components

AURORA® manufactures both standard components compliant with SAE-AS international specifications and custom-engineered solutions based on customer drawings. For specific applications, configurations with tight clearance, loose fit or preloaded assemblies are available, along with special materials and customized designs.

This flexibility allows AURORA® to meet the demands of the aircraft industry, where each component must operate within systems designed for precision, safety and full traceability.

AURORA® guarantee

The AURORA® guarantee is based on a combination of manufacturing quality, process control and the ability to meet aerospace industry requirements. The availability of both standard and custom components, together with full traceability, makes AURORA® a reliable solution for aircraft applications where performance and safety are critical.
